The principal and Vice Chancellor, Professor Dame Sally Mapstone commented that it is a significant achievement for them and that the hard working students and staff at St. Adrews totally deserve this recognition.

The league table also ranked universities based on subjects and the London School of Economics ranked the table for accounting and finance. On the other hand, Oxford secures a score of 100 for Business and Management.

St. Andrews ranked first in specialisations in chemistry, biology, international relations, history, art, neuroscience, economics and English. Cambridge University tops the list for psychological and behavioural science, sociology and social policy, computer science and information systems, architecture and politics courses. The university league table kept Oxford on the top for specialisations in Fine arts, language and linguistics, business and management, Mathematics, biomedical science, philosophy and ancient history.

The higher ranking and recognition of a Scottish university is a source of pride for the entire institution. Moreover, the league table helps students to make an informed decision based on crucial selection criteria like student satisfaction and career prospects. Every year Guardian releases a university ranking league table based on academic reputation and graduate employability factors.

The league table includes a total of 66 subjects and uses nine performance standards to rank the institutions. The intention is to assess the resources and help students make an informed selection for further studies in the UK.
